that “policeman” should be under arrest

i’m just 2 episodes in, and i’m sickened by this fat f… of a policeman and his “fragile mind”.

basically, he’s an enabler and should be charged as an accessory to the crime.

as for the rest, i can’t wrap my mind around it, no offense to the victims.

how does anyone fall for this ridiculous scam, and not a subtle one at that? for a so-called prophet with zero charisma, zero intelligence, zero sex appeal…

in a work of fiction, no one would find it credible, i guess life surpasses imagination, and not in a good way.sansonettif

wow…

i’m speechless at the resiliency and bravery of this couple to enter such a dire situation of trauma and abuse, yet still find the strength to bring evil to justice! this was one of the most powerful documentaries i have ever seen, mostly due to the personal nature of the film makers. christine is truly a modern day hero! it was eye opening to see the lengths it took for her to find justice for those young women! i highly recommend to anyone that wants to see the devil end up in hell where he deserves

courageous

having grown up in utah and witnessing these types of polygamous families i can see how christine wanted to help!

this is a powerful documentary and very well done, with respect to the women and girls who have been born into a very harmful religious system.

this show, among so many others, is one more example of how a powerful and deluded man can be take control of a community and use a religion for his own evil “kingdom”.

christine and tolga took the time to make connections with this community to save other humans dignity and bring justice to victims.

these stories are chilling reminders that the past (and sadly present) teachings of “religious” leaders can damage generations of women, children and even the men within those communities and in patriarchy societies.

thank you for having the courage to make this film! i hope more of the girls and women will begin to understand what brainwashing happened to them and begin to heal

the prophet drives a bentley. the wives sew their own dresses.

trust me: the false prophet is one of the most compelling docuseries i’ve seen in a long time. it is powerful, beautifully filmed, heartbreaking, and ultimately hopeful, a rare combination that stays with you long after the final episode.

what makes this series particularly striking is watching, in real time, how sam bateman systematically dismantled the very belief system he claimed to represent. these women and children surrendered everything: their autonomy, their identities, their futures, to a man who convinced them he spoke directly to god.

meanwhile, they were sewing their own matching handmade dresses while he was driving a bentley. the cognitive dissonance was genuinely tragic.

the manipulation on display is textbook, and i mean that literally. isolation, manufactured dependency, intermittent reinforcement, identity reconstruction. watching it unfold through the eyes of the survivors is both an education in coercive control and a complete gut punch.

christine marie is the quiet center of this story, and she is extraordinary. there is something almost unbearable about watching her methodically, compassionately work to crack open the armor of women who had every reason to protect the man who hurt them while trying to stay strong inside.

the moment when loyalty begins to fracture, when you can see a woman start to recognize that love was the weapon used against her, that is documentary filmmaking at its finest.

this series doesn’t just tell a story. it bears witness.dvk1234

story of survival out of utah

when i first started watching, i was suspicious of christine marie and tolga. was this a stunt for online publicity? why would strangers outside the flds help, while filming everything? but then, going further into the series, i realized their motives were pure, and thankfully there was a good outcome. i will not spoil for those who haven’t yet watched, but i highly recommend.

the one thing i will say is there needs to be an independent investigation into the policing of the short creek community with special and close attention placed on the doughy and dim-witted police officer that was interviewed. it seems like people are allegedly protecting their own, at the expense of child sa and human trafficking. very sad. and not the first time for utah/flds.
