hara hachi bu

i first came across this concept in the book ikigai the japanese secret to a long and happy life. i have yet to fully develop and understanding of this besides how its a japanese phrase that means “eat until you are 80% full”.

this okinawan philosophy is a form of mindful eating that encourages people to stop eating before they feel completely full, which can help reduce calorie intake, promote weight management, and contribute to a longer, healthier life. the practice is not a restrictive diet but a way of eating with awareness, gratitude, and moderation.

perhaps this can be part of or related to my intentional effort towards minimalism
